Organic

A small portion of Bracher Farms has been dedicated to organic production since 2003. We are organic certified by the Oregon Department of Agriculture as Cold Springs Ranches. We are continuously increasing the acreage and follow the philosophy that encompasses organic agriculture.

2012 marked the beginning of our irrigated organic cropland. The project involved pumping water from the Columbia River to our dry land farm. This irrigation project will increase production and our ability to diversify the crop rotation.

Organic Mustard is one of many crops grown on the farm. Both yellow and brown mustard seed are harvested for the gourmet condiment mustard market.

Weeds present challenges on an organic farm. Pasturing sheep is one method used to control some weeds.
